Château du Boscau

Self-catering apartments and a B&B room in a château dating from 1450, opposite Castelnau-Bretenoux castle.

We live here, and we'd love to make room for you.

We bought Château du Boscau in 2023. It stands in the north of the Lot, opposite Castelnau-Bretenoux castle. Before us, the same family had lived here for more than two hundred years.

The house itself is far older, built around 1450 by the Benedictine monk Gilles del Bosc. We welcome guests in two self-catering apartments, a B&B room and our tea garden.

Where you'll sleep.

Two self-catering apartments, each with its own kitchen and bathroom, and a B&B room with an ensuite bathroom. From 1 April 2027 there will also be a swimming pool for all guests.

Almost a thousand years in the same place

“Le mas del Bosc”, the farm, appears on a map belonging to Beaulieu Abbey.

A dispute breaks out between the lords of del Bosc and Castelnau-Bretenoux castle, which is still our neighbour across the way.

The Benedictine monk Gilles del Bosc builds the present-day house.

1793

The Les Gindre family takes over the house and runs a farm there for more than two hundred years.

Around the château lie 10 hectares of woodland and meadow, with a small lake of our own.

Drop in at our tea garden for coffee or tea and a little something to go with it. Lunch is available if you book at least one day ahead.

From April: Thursday to Sunday, 12pm–6pm. Other days by arrangement.

Join the table d'hôtes

We regularly host a table d’hôtes: a three-course dinner we cook ourselves, with fresh produce that’s local and organic wherever possible. Vegetarian options are available too. In good weather we lay the table outside; otherwise we eat in the château.

Ester & Bob

We’re Ester and Bob Veldman, from the Netherlands, and we’ve lived here at Château du Boscau since 2023. A year later we opened our tea garden too: coffee, tea, lunch, cakes and table d’hôtes.

See you soon at Boscau.
